Not so much a blog as a progress of record. The Glorious Decade is my version of those 'things to do before...' lists that we all make. The aim is to complete this list before the 31st of December 2019.

Plenty of time...

I have split the list into ten sections:

1. Travel and Holidays
2. Nature and the Countryside
3. Adventures/ Big Days Out
4. Food and Drink
5. Life
6. Things to Make and Do
7. Literature
8. Arts and Culture
9. Britain
10. The Really Quite Difficult

If you have any suggestions or want to debate or celebrate any of my choices. If you have done some of them and want to offer help or advice. Drop me a comment or two in the comment boxes.

Here are the 100 targets for The Glorious Decade.

51. Record an Album

Let's be clear. I do not want to be signed. I do not want to be a pop star. I do not want to go on Top of the Pops (well maybe Top of the Pops). All I want is to record an album of the, to most ears, almost listenable drivel that Dan and I produce when left to our own devices for too long. 2010 will start with the launch of our exciting new blog Daniel and Benjamin's Country Diary which is a combination of nature jottings and very dubious electronic noise making. Ideologically we are a sort of 'anti-folk' band, more likely to be lost in the countryside than becoming at one with it. Musically, well, I suppose points of reference might be LFO, The Pet Shop Boys, drunk tramps with recorders, a washing machine falling down a stairwell, a dog being sick, Ann Widdicombe stuck in a lift trying to get help by kicking the door with her chunky shoes and bellowing commands to non-existent maintenance men, etc

The Internet has given idiots like Dan and myself a beautiful opportunity to, shall we say 'place', our, shall we say 'music', in the public realm. Who are we to refuse it eh?

  1. Yeah. Too fucking right. Who are we to refuse the internet when it comes a calling?
