I am a big fan of Ladybird books. I have a small collection. I would like a large collection. The books form a section of the history of childhood in this country. They are also a fascinating form of social history in themselves. There were well over 600 different titles published in the fifties, sixties, seventies and eighties - many are very rare. I am not interested in collecting first editions or expensive oddities as it is the contents and not the value of the books that interests me. I am not going to start paying large sums of money for them but I would like to take my collection from about one hundred to the four hundred mark by visiting a few jumble sales and charity shops.
